.: Versatile Salma :.

The Versatile Blogger Award.

Beloved Sister Salma from the Sole Sisters Collective has been sweet enough to bestow me with a blog award.

The conditions of this award are that:

1. The recipient must thank the bestower of the award.

Thank you so much love!. It's very kind of you to think of me in this sense. I always thought I write nonsense most of the time. :)

2. Share seven things about self.

1. I love food. *what's new?*
2. I love food photography. *To my FB friends; there's more to come!*
3. I'm trying to make it a habit to eat on time.
4. I'm reading a lot about India and Terengganu lately. *work-related*
5. I'm still learning Chinese; seriously taking my own sweet time.
6. Insha'Allah, my cousin and I will attend religious classes together.
7. I managed to curb my compulsive obsession to purchase books.

3. Bestow the award on 15 newly-discovered, or followed blogs.

I can't possibly choose 15, so I'm giving it to everyone in my 'Noteworthy Blogs' list.

And I just realized there's another award. Aahhh~~~ Silly, silly me!

There are two (2) rules for accepting this award.

1. I have to sum up my blogging philosophy, motivation, and experience in 5 words:

I suppose this blog is a space consisting of random thoughts for literary immortality.

2. I must pass on the award to 10 other amazing blogs.

Passing this to my 'Noteworthy Blogs' list. Everyone is amazing in their own way.

Thanks again Salma. :)

My Islamic way of dressing.

Tagged by Hajar Zamzam Ismail. Thanks sis. Sorry it took me so long.

Reason is, I'm uncertain on how I should go with this post. My conclusion is, probably, I am supposed to indicate my way of dressing according to the principles of Islam. As a starter, I am extremely old-fashioned with zero fashion sense, so you are bound to read some super simple get-ups. Please skip this post if you do not want me to bore you. Sister Zamzam, I just had to pinch your format. :)

If I were to choose which one is me ...

Presently, I am mostly mini-qubeisya.
... ~ ...

At home :: 90% of the time, I'll be in "Kaftans". Sometimes, due to its length, it can double up as a broom and sweep-away the mess you leave behind during snack-time. :)

Prayers :: Always, in a white "Telekung" with some embroidery. Yes, I bring it with me even when I'm out. That should explain why I lug a bagpack. :)

Make-up :: None. I'm contented with the natural look. If I have a greasy face, I have a greasy face. If I have a zit, I have a zit. And if I have chapped lips, I have chapped lips. :)

Outside :: "Baju Kurung"

When I'm too lazy to iron it or want to save time, I will wear pants or long skirts matched with a / multiple layered long-sleeved top. :)

Hijabs :: To be brutally honest, I'm not a 100% hijabi. More of a 95%. I'm working towards it. Insha'Allah. My hijabs are normally the square scarves [regardless of the size], and rectangular shawls; with or without the pins, and brooches. I don't use any of those hijabs that you can slip on in less than 5 seconds and look wickedly smashing in it. I actually look frumpy in those.

Shoes :: Strapped-on sandals! And slip-ons! No heels! NO HEELS! And I put on socks.

Nails :: Years ago, I managed to obtain some henna, and slabbed it on my nails. Nowadays, keeping it short and clean is more than enough. :)

Perfume :: None. I'm happy with that. :)

Hair :: So far, I haven't done anything to it.

Accessories :: I wear a necklace, and a bangle. The necklace was a gift from my mum's colleagues when I was born. I've been wearing it for about 3 years now. Meanwhile, the bangle was a gift from my mum when she went for Umrah. I've been wearing it for 1 year, after I snapped the previous one. I still keep the beads though.

Colors :: My wardrobe consists of pastels, earth tones, red, pink, black or white. Nothing loud, i.e. sudden burst of summer colors. Although, I am starting to move on to other shades.

While I was searching for hyperlinks, I found out that the author for the "telekung" link is an old lost acquaintance of mine. What are the odds ...

Anyone can snitch this meme. :)

.: Awards galore :.

To my lovely sisters.

Thank you to happily newly-wedded Mina and lovely Melissa for this spectacular blog-centerpiece.

The rules of this award are:

•List five current obsessions.
•Pass the award on to five more fabulous blogs.
•On your post of receiving this award, make sure you include the person that gave you the award and link it back to them.
•When you post your five winners, make sure you link them as well.
•Don't forget to let your winners know they won an award from you by leaving a comment on their blog.

:: Current obsessions :: *this is tough!*

1. Learning Chinese. Determination! Determination! Determination!
2. Cooking. I haven't been cooking lately. However, I keep getting recipes posted to my inbox and since Eid is 3 weeks away, that means I have 3 weeks left to bake cookies. I don't recall volunteering to make it this year, but it seems like my mum and aunt have made it my duty. Anyway, it's about time I regain my cooking obsession.
3. Memory Book[s]. Of my trip to Guangzhou and Shenzhen. I like to flip-through pages and recall things.
4. Muhammad Ahmad Zahid Al-Hafiz. I'm not obsessed with him. I'm obsessed with his Quran recitals.
5. Writing. I'm starting to have the muse to write again. :)

Awarding this to ::

1. Hajar Zamzam Ismail
2. Empress Anisa
3. Farhana
4. Hijabee
5. Umm Travis

PS:: Mina, you don't need me to remind you how fabulous your blog is. :)

And another one by dearest Mina.

I'm awarding this to everyone in my blog and followers list.

Really sorry that I haven't been cruising over to your blogs for ever so long. Google Reader tracks about 150+ of unread blog posts, therefore I am aware I am missing a lot of updates. With time, Insha'Allah.

While I'm at it, CONGRATS TO MINA, EMPRESS ANISA, HIJABEE, and MICHELLE@COFFEE CATHOLIC! Honestly thrilled with the wonderful news! You lot should pretty much know why, hence I'm not mentioning anything. :)

Lastly, my heartfelt gratitude goes to the both of you.

Thanks Mina and Melissa! ^^

.: Inspirational words :.

Continuation to
Asma’s tag.

Honestly, I am thrilled with this tag, albeit I am rather uncertain on what is expected from me. Judging from Asma’s post, I reckon I need to list down words that are inspirational to me, hence I give you those words, 10 in all in no order of importance.

  • Sincerity in the extent of opening oneself to another, in doing things without expecting a reward.
  • Believe in God, your beliefs, yourself and having the courage to believe in others and the things that they strive for. The sincere belief that one has on oneself or to another, leads to hope to carry on.
  • Acceptance of the good and the worse, taking it together instead of singling one from the other. Sincerely believing and accepting that the good complements the worse and vice versa.
  • Willpower to attempt the impossible, with earnest effort coupled with belief along with absorbing the outcome of it. Where there’s a will, there is a way.
  • Optimism, even when the going gets tough. For every affliction, there is a possible solution to it. The path is embellished with roses and thorns. Believe that you can overcome it.
  • Persevere under any circumstance. The wait may be insufferable, but the result is worth the entire wait. Behaving over dramatic and surrendering to prejudiced advances will not solve things. The young and the reckless, not.
  • Compassion towards the needy, the old, the young, to mother earth herself. That is the trait that keeps us grounded, above all, humane.
  • Silence that speaks in its own language. Not as a silent treatment, but knowing when it is time to relent. Perhaps wars can be avoided if people will just keep silent, listen and feel the compassion.
  • Life is temporary. The life we have now is a transit section before heading on to the hereafter. We only have one shot to make it right; thus kindly have a bullish life and for crying out loud, do not thrash it. Life is what we make out of it. Aim for a good one, strive for it, and make the change yourself.
  • Love, similar to kindness is the language understood by all. While it crosses boundaries and possesses the ability to move the heavens, mountains and the seas, it can also withstand the challenges throughout the passages of time. Love empowers a filial child to implore to God for the goodness of his/her parents, it is the sole reason why a woman will hold on to her abusive marriage, it is the one sacred feeling that everyone seek from another and it has the optimum force to change the course of one's life.

The world is where I find my loved ones … if they no longer exist, neither does the world …

On the whole, these were taken from a chat log memory I had with a friend not long ago. We were discussing on a few issues, whereby one thing led to another and we ended up having this conversation. I paraphrased and summarized the points into a succinct paragraph to illustrate the words I had listed above. I didn't give much thought when doing this tag, practically prosing the essential aspects that ran through my mind so it may not be treated in a tactful manner. Then again, my meticulousness may bring about possible amendments.

Friend:: How can you remain positive?

Me:: Because with sincerity in doing things, I learn to accept the ups and downs in life in which optimism beckons me to move forward, to persevere underneath the pure madness life has to offer and to continue to have absolute belief that the things that I will for, will happen. Sometimes, when things get too heated up, silence can speak more than words can ever do and when it comes to providing compassion, the whole process repeats itself with love.

Similar to the previous tags, steal this if you favor it. :) But do let me know, so I can enrich myself with your perspectives, and perhaps gain a generous amount of wisdom from it.

素晴らしき世界!

Mass post churning ends. Pheew~!

.: I believe that I can :.

Courtesy of Asma.

The tag requires me to write 5 things that I believe I am able to do in life …

  • Lead the life that I want. *a living proof of it*
  • Become a better person. *striving towards it*
  • Be sensible, levelheaded and positive at all times. *optimism... good riddance to the entire negative chi clan*
  • Be there when someone close to me needs me the most. *I will make time and find a way to get there*
  • Be everlastingly grateful to Almighty God for the ups and downs. *Alhamdulillah*

Anyone can do this tag. Feel free to snitch it away. :)

I broke away from my gaming addiction 4 years ago. The only console I still have is Gameboy Micro. Work made me put a halt in this area, along with my anime and manga dependence. Mum, upon knowing this drastic surety gave the impression of exceptional delight. The beauty is, afterward, I start to see and appreciate the little things that I had failed to notice beforehand. Like taking casual strolls, speaking to a neighbor, listening to the jibber jabbers from the birds, chasing the pesky squirrels, or having breakfast.

On the final point, I intend to reword it as "
I love my family and friends"; in order of importance. Family here is not restricted to blood ties. If I say 'You will always have a family in me', that radical statement brings tremendous weight. One that will ultimately change my course in life, if need to be. And as weird as it may sound, I have a ranking system on how far I will go for someone.

The beginning of another great day.

.: Award :.

Lost for words.

Had a few minutes to spare, browsed a couple of blogs in a jiffy and ...

Waahey~!

Halfway through thinking that she can't prolly be more outrageously lovely than she already is,
a pleasant surprise lurks in the tremendously humble Sister Hijabee's entry. Plainly put, she got me bowled over. *as if you haven't done enough with your massively insightful posts* Gosh~! The things I can rave about you. If Sister Mina didn't award this to you ahead of time, I'm positive scores of us will. :)

Loads of gratitude for including me in the honours list. ^^ Finding myself to be rather undeserving for it. *Cool and me apparently don't walk together ... haha~* Sis will find this bit of news hard to digest. LOL.

Whilst I'm still exhibiting excessive levels of euphoria, and keeping in with the tradition of sharing the blissful occasion, I must nominate 10 uber cool blogs. * bah~ that's absurd!* Every single blog reveal coolness in its own way. Aih~ Unfortunately, I still have to. There are bound to be reiterations from previous nominations. Needless to say, I'm amplifying the coolness effect that your blog has on people, particularly me.

Hijabee :: Need I say more? Kudos to our Hijabee in DC!

Mamamona :: Love how she posts her days in Egypt. The stuff that she does with her sweet little angels always leave a pleasing feeling inside.^

Empress Anisa :: Possess the flair to create articulate, well-expressed stirring posts. Dear sister, please prioritize in getting the internet connection before unpacking your stuff. *joking!*

Umm Travis :: Her tea break thoughts coupled with spectacular photos are the very things that perk me up in any given day. :)

Miss Unique :: If I knew you before I went for Hajj, I would have made it a point to meet you in person. Surely a beautiful soul exists in you sis. Posts chock-full with notable reminders back-to-back.

Hajar :: She has the cutest bundles of joy~! *squeels* Reading her posts on her happenings with them is owh-so wonderful!

Yoli :: Another sister with equally cute kids!
*bah~ I'm starting to sound like a ninny.* It's always a delight to read her entries. The inspiring poems, quotes, paintings ... extremely uplifting!

Sister Farhana :: One of the first lovely sisters that I know. Awesome book reviews along with updates on the ingenious noble projects that bring forth immense benefits for the well being of others. Glad to know you're back sis. ^^

Miss Ash :: Within her lies a pivotal role in unleashing that thriving poetess. Blimey! Your posts shock me, in a good way. All the best for your major exams! ^^

Lisa B :: A picture speaks a thousand words. Quite cliché
. Spend some time to go over her blog, captivated in the glorious picturesque compositions as seen through her lenses. ~

To the ones not mentioned, it doesn't mean your blogs are any less inferior. As said earlier, each blog has its own distinct significance, and every one is cool. However, I do admit that I am being partial by not mentioning any blogs by brothers. The sisterhood in me is just screaming for attention. *kidding* For more cool blogs, the links are listed in here. :)

Lots of love from your Asian connection *quoting Hijabee*.

.: Honest scrap :.

10 random things about me.

I was tagged by the ever so lovely Miss Ash and Ms. Unique. Both tags had different headings, albeit the mechanism is similar.

a) first list 10 honest things about yourself - and make it interesting, even if you have to dig deep!
b) pass the award on to 7 bloggers that you feel embody the spirit of the Honest Scrap.

Spoilers :: I'll be repetitive and the honest facts are basically FAQs that I've gotten from readers. :P

  1. I'm from Malaysia. Being somewhat specific, I'm residing in Kuala Lumpur. No, I don't live in a jungle.
  2. I have yet to grasp the ways of consuming medicine; tablets, capsules, the likes. Yes, I still bash 'em up. No, it's not cute.
  3. There are no fabrications in my writings. If you correspond with me, there are no fibs either. My rational is, why lie when you can choose not to say about it. Besides, what's the point of making up stories when Allah S.W.T knows everything.
  4. I have done some pretty stupid and crazy stuff. Hajj made me rethink on my actions, thus I'm making amendments as time goes by. As I told a friend, I can be no angel but I'm just trying to make myself a better person.
  5. The only accessory I use is my spectacles. Without it, I'm lost, literally.
  6. I hate heels.
  7. I also hate make-up.
  8. I love food. :)
  9. Friends and family still hold my hand when I want to cross the road.
  10. Figuratively, I'm old. Haha~ Friends and family think I should really act my age. I like to say, I possess the leisure pursuits of an old hag. ^

Passing this to Erin, Hajar, Heryanti, Yoli, Solace, Kakchik, and Empress Anisa.

Anything else, will have to wait.
