.: Guilty :.

Inner turmoil.

To be honest with everyone, I haven’t been cooking for close to a month as I couldn’t find the time. So I did manage to make fried rice last week and noodles this week but I won’t call that as cooking because I didn’t involve any passion in it. I cooked because I had to eat something and I refused to order take-outs. It wasn’t because I wanted to create a food masterpiece.

Yesterday, we ordered Mcdonald’s. It made me realize why I preferred to slave away in the kitchen, willingly.

Mcdonald’s tasted like cardboard.

After I forcibly devoured the burger, and had to look the other way when my sister threw my fries in the garbage because I felt like puking just by looking at it, it came to my senses on the kind of things I have been consuming for the last few weeks.

  • Have I reached the age whereby fast food joints have now repulsed me?
  • How many more fries will end in the garbage bin?
  • Don’t people eat good food anymore?
  • Don’t people cook anymore?
  • Aren’t people concerned in having a healthy diet?

Hence, I am hoping to start anew in my cooking escapades. Decided to take small steps in trying to redevelop a healthy lifestyle and abstain from putting more garbage in me. *besides the fact I miss people telling me how good of a cook I am and can be if I will only spend more time in the kitchen … coughs*

A test of endurance.

Arrrggghhhh. McDonalds is crap. It's crap in Malaysia too, I remember that (sorry... ahahaha, but it's the same with KFC!). I cannot eat McDs. Most people I know (including me) have worked there at some point in their lives (first job kinda thing) and wow. That is enough to put you off it forever.

Anyway, cooking is wonderful :) I have some good recipes on my blog (ok like maybe 4) but type "arabic bites" into google and click on the first result. Amaaaazing.

There's a restaurant in my town and the food tastes waaaay better than McD's or KFC's. The chicken is fresh and they only cook it when the customers ask for it. Not to mention the food is encredibly cheaper. McD and KFC mahal tercekik! When the food doesn't taste good, it's just not worth it.

I still could stand McD's but I turn sick when I eat KFC's fried chicken. Home food is better than anything, of course. Plus, the effort you're putting into it makes the food taste way better.

Salaams,
I don't like fast food either. I'd rather roast my own potatoes in the oven, with pure olive oil, salt, crushed rosemary and black pepper. Even my little babies love to eat that.
In fact, I am working on a recipe blog now. After my blog carnival is finished I want to unveil it.

Ellen557 :: LoL~ I totally agree with you! I cringe whenever friends opt for McDs, KFC and other fast food outlets. One of my cousins worked in KFC and he has never touched the blasted thing ever! I see a pattern here. :)

Cool~ Ermm ... Meedo and Zainab eh? ^^ Dang! Where are they these days???

Ash Mazelan :: *nods head* Memang tak berbaloi! Kalau diikutkan, you can get 2 meals for the price of 1 McD McValue meal! It pretty much sounds like garbage/a total rip-off to me.

True. :)

Hajar Zamzam Ismail :: Wa'alaikum'as'salam. We used to have that a couple of years ago but we literally stopped making it when our oven malfunctioned. *excessive baking* The oven is all good now so I'll try to include this in. Thanks for the tip!

Awesome~! Do update me! ^^

I need to be more enthusiastic about cooking as well, I'd like to think that if I put more effort in the kitchen I can cook something more exciting.
I think McDonald's food tastes like cardboard too. :D
When I was in Turkey on vacation I did not miss fast food A BIT! There were so many other food choices (Turkish food) and my hubby was eating Döner kebab every day. :))

Good luck with the healthier eating and more cooking. I find I enjoy Mcdondalds when I get something just once in about 3 months, just recently I got it more often and it is not doing me any good. Personally I have difficulty finding somewhere decent to have lunch out (in the UK) that is good food, properly cooked and not overpriced. I guess it is the same the world over :).

Aynur :: You will, trust me. :) LoL~ I had those almost everyday in Saudi too! The shawarma, gyros, döner kebabs ... sadly, it's not as convenient to find those here. :(

Lisa B :: FYI, I made some scallion bread yesterday. I can't say that I yield the best results out of it but it did turn out better than expected so no complaints! ^^

I guess so. :)

And so you should feel guilty especially after telling me about the toxins and green tea. lol

However I do doubt that you are a better cook than me

You're not being bitter about it, are you? LoL~

Does it matter? :)
